Staying in touch is important to us...

Dear Friends, Families and Students,

It may be getting colder outside, but the activities and energy at Kids World Gymnastics are heating up. As you can tell from the recent changes in our graphics, we are letting everyone know what we do differently than other gyms in our area: We focus on having a "happy, healthy and fun" atmosphere in all of our programs.

There are just a few things we ask for you to do to help us:

  • Share your experiences with us. So we can continue to improve our classes, our curriculum, or training techniques in the best interest of your children, please give us feedback.
  • Share your experiences with others. You are our best advertisement. Thank you for telling others about us and helping us grow for the past 2 years. We want to continue to grow and offer more programs. Let us know how we can help you pass the word. Feel free to take our flyers and program information to your friends who might be interested. And, you can forward this e-enews to them, too.
  • Know you are appreciated. Helping you raise happy and healthy children in a fun environment like Kids World Gymnastics is a "dream come true" for us. We love kids and helping them grow skills and confidence is our main purpose. Thank you for this privilege.

One last thing: Our new session just got started. New Students can start anytime. Registration forms are available on our website and at the front desk. We just want to remind you that keeping your slot in the class is important, so let us know how we can help you finish the enrollment process.

May this season be full of wonderful memories for you,

Gene & Marnie Kohler

News from our Teams...

New Girls Competitive Gymnastics Team

We are very excited to have a level 4 competitive girls gymnastics team.  Our gymnastics program has been running for a little over a year now and this team has grown directly out of our classes.  We would like to acknowledge all the hard work these girls have put in, some of them had no gymnastics experience before joining our club.  The level 4’s currently attend class 2 times a week for 2 hours each practice.  They are working hard to learn new skills and memorize the USA Gymnastics level 4 routines.  We intend to start having the girls compete in meets starting in the 2008 competitive season.  The girls are excited and looking forward to competing and showing off their routines.  The girls will be competing on all four women’s Olympic events, vault, bars, beam and floor.  We are always looking for additions to this team.  All of our current team members came from classes and we continue to scan classes for those who may be interested in a more challenging class.  Congratulations new Level 4’s, keep up the good work.  Those of you in general classes, keep working hard and this could be you too.

Trampoline & Tumbling Team Demonstration Updates

The Trampoline & Tumbling Team had an enormous demonstration opportunity the week before Thanksgiving.  They were the opening act for the Circus to Save Lives, a benefit circus for cancer patients that took place at the Family Arena in St. Charles.  They performed for over 15,000 spectators in seven different shows from Thursday, November 15 to Sunday, November 18.  The showed off their skills and routines as owner Gene Kohler became the temporary ringmaster, getting the crowd excited and also informing them of the sport of Trampoline & Tumbling’s existence and tremendous potential.

Fifteen members of the team performed at the shows.  They are Andrew, Henry, Clayton, Kevin, Sulaiman, Carolann, Amy, Natalie, Josh, Ian, Berklea, Stephanie, Anna, Duncan, and head team coach Eric Miller.

“I was very pleased with how the team performed.  This was the largest crowd for which they have ever performed, and they hit every skill,” Eric said.

The Circus to Save Lives marked the last of the team’s demonstration year, which also included performances at Hazelwood’s X-fest, the Great Balloon Race, the Rumble to the River, the Walk for the Cure, and Florissant’s Old Towne Fall Festival.  Now they set their sights firmly on the upcoming competition season, which will kick off on January 19 in Peoria, Illinois, the site of the St. Jude’s Benefit Meet.

St. Louis Elite Cheerleading Team

The St. Louis Elite Cheerleading team is off to a great start this season.  We started our inaugural year with three teams:

  • Jr. level 2
  • Sr. level 3
  • Sr. level 5

All the teams have made great progress so far and have been successful at their competitions.  So far this year the St. Louis Elite Cheer program has walked away with four national championships and two Grand National Championships.  The teams continue to work hard and prepare for upcoming competitions.  Each practice the teams prepare by working on stunts, tumbling, jumps, cheer and dance.  Each team has a choreographed routine that they run through every practice, to prepare them for competition.  We are looking forward to a fun, positive and successful season.  GO STARS!  Kids World Gymnastics offers cheerleading classed for children age 3 & up.  These classes can help prepare you for a place on one of our teams next season.  Sign up now, tryouts will be late April or early May 2008.

Seasons Greetings from all of us at Kids World Gymnastics

Guess what's new to our area:

Kinder Musik

In a Kindermusik class, educators lead a group of parents and their children through joyful activities, using music and movement. Parents learn more about their child's unique developmental process, and the shared learning experience creates a unique bond as the child associates learning with fun, musical play.

The learning process continues at home, guided by specially designed books, CDs, and games.

  • Movement and dance activities improve coordination and balance.
  • One-on-one parent and child interaction nurtures self-esteem.
  • Music-making and music listening activities develop self-discipline, as well as critical and creative thinking skills.

Kindermusik classes are now forming and will be meeting during the day at Kids World Gymnastics facilities.
