Spring Fever Is Here...

Dear Friends, Families and Students,

Wow! We were all teased by the spring weather and in typical St. Louis fashion then we get hit by a huge snow storm a couple of days later. Hopefully everyone got to spend quality time with family and friends. Let’s hope the nice weather “springs” it’s beautiful face soon!!

With spring near we have plenty of awesome activities just around the corner.  This newsletter is full of information you need.
Welcome also to all the new families subscribing to our e-publication. We love finding new ways stay in touch. We’ll be adding new photos every issue, so be sure to forward it along to friends and family.

We also want to thank you all for participating in the Team Photography last month. The photographs turned out great, and they will be available for pick up on or after March 17th.

By the way, did you know that when you take the week off classes during Spring Break (March 17-21) to spend with your family, we keep very busy! We’ll take that week to make some changes and renovations in our facilities. We love making more and more room for classes that are growing. Both our TumbleTots Program and our Cheerleading Program will be getting more space, thanks to their growing programs. The Kamp Kids World during Spring Break will be using the other side our facilities during their day programs. Spring is a wonderful time to improve what we already do so well: take time to train and teach your children the love of fitness and healthy activities.

To everyone, we hope you have a happy Easter, while we all hop into the new season.

Gene & Marnie Kohler

P.S. Next up is our “Meet Me in St. Louis”, a trampoline and tumbling competition being held  on Sat March 29th. (Did you know trampoline is an Olympic Event?)  For more information check out our link  www.stlouiselite.org/meetmeinstlouis/. We are all getting psyched about this event!!

Featured Program: Baton Twirling Evolved

Baton Twirling at Kids World

Twirlers have been featured on ESPN, and competitions like the Congressional Cup have been televised in many areas.  As the sport gains credibility, we will see more university scholarships offered to twirlers, more press coverage of competitions, and perhaps even inclusion in the Olympics.

The Introductory Baton Twirling program includes instruction on team twirling, individual competition skills, and basic strut/parade technique.

In the beginning, there were manly drum majors swinging maces. Then, girls got involved and white boots and slim batons replaced shako hats and heavy maces.

Today's twirler is far removed from the baton twirlers of even a decade ago.  Now twirlers are athletes -- twirling requires the stamina of a distance runner, the coordination of a baseball or basketball player, the grace and balance of a gymnast, the concentration of a quarterback, and the determination and dedication necessary to be successful in virtually any sport.

Competitive twirling has come a long way as well. Outside of the limited twirling organizations, there were few opportunities for the world to see twirlers compete.  Pageants, like Miss America, were our best press.  And while those who donned tiaras to show the world their twirling are to be commended for their achievements, twirling was presented more as a lightweight talent than a true sport. My, how things have changed.  Baton twirling is now a part of the AAU Junior Olympics, and has been tentatively approved by the NCAA on its list of emerging sports for women.

We have openings in our preschool and general classes, so contact us today about Baton Twirling at Kids World!
