Continuing to Improve...

Dear Friends, Families and Students,

Give me a M, Give me a O, Give me a M, what does that spell?  MOM! Go MOM! Celebrate motherhood. Celebrate life.

While I watch my wife go through another pregnancy I am truly amazed. Watching the miracle happen again helps me realize how blessed we are. This month, we were able to celebrate Mothers Day and give thanks for all the wonderful things our Moms have done.

On another note, you will see that we are continuously making improvements to the rooms here at Kids World Gymnastics while we strive to make your child’s experiences meaningful and lasting. Check out our virtual tour online.

You will see some new equipment and some rearranging of rooms for the better flow of classes. This will add to our summer excitement.

Thanks again for your continued support,

Gene & Marnie Kohler

General News for All Our Families:

Training Time at Kids World Gymnastics

The staff at Kids World Gymnastics is constantly trying to improve the quality of instruction we provide to our students.  We are excited to offer many training opportunities including world class coaching clinics to all of our instructors, from preschool through team.  This week the gym will be hosting a tumbling clinic for all of our employees to sharpen their technical skills.  This is just one of the many examples of how we are trying to stay one step ahead of the competition.  Don’t hesitate to ask your coach what he/she learned at the clinic.

Preschool Gymnastics / Tumbletots

Preschool coach Ms. Amanda will be leaving us this fall to attend the University of Missouri – Columbia.  GO TIGERS!  Although we will have her throughout the summer months, she has already landed another coaching job in Columbia, MO.  Because of Amanda’s training, amazing dedication and commitment to the children the new club is extremely excited to have her on board.  We will miss her a lot, but don’t worry, the coach that will replace her will receive the same excellent training Ms. Amanda received.

Preschool coach Mr. Daniel has decided to attend St. Louis College of Pharmacy in the fall.  We are so proud of him, what a difficult school to get into.  We are excited that he chose to stay in St. Louis and continue coaching for us in the fall.

Make sure you congratulate these two preschool coaches on their amazing success.  What great role models for our young athletes?

Look for level 3 to have a new name!

Level 3 will be the same great class with the same great teachers, but we will be changing the name.  We will now be calling level 3, Pre Team.  We are doing this to promote consistency between the programs, we already offer Pre Team in Trampoline and Tumbling.  If your daughter dreams at night of swinging on the bars and cartwheels down the halls of your home, tell her to keep up the hard work, maybe she too could find herself on the new and improved Pre Team.

TNT

April was an exciting month for St. Louis Elite Trampoline & Tumbling.  On April 26th they traveled to Joplin, Missouri, for the 2008 Trampoline & Tumbling State Championships.  This competition was the first opportunity for the team to qualify for the 2008 National Championships in July.

Fourteen athletes from St. Louis Elite competed at State.  The team won 13 gold, 9 silver, and 8 bronze medals.  They also won the Team Awards for Level 9 Trampoline and Level 8 Double Mini.  Twelve athletes also qualified for the National Championships as well.

The next step for St. Louis Elite will be the Regional Championships in Highland, Indiana, on May 16th and 17th.  This competition will be their final chance to qualify athletes for the National Championships.  The 2008 National Championships will be held in Kansas City, Missouri, from July 1st-6th.  It will also be used as the final Olympic Qualifying competition for the U.S. men and women for trampoline.  We will keep you updated on their progress in the months to come!

Cheer / Dance

Over the past month there have been a lot of changes to the cheerleading program. Try-outs were held on April 27th, 2008. The turn out was a huge success. St. Louis Elite went from three teams to seven in one year. There were many new faces and lots of talented young ladies and gentleman. We are also pleased to announce that we now have a hip hop team.

Try-outs were held on May 3rd, 2008. The hip hop team will compete at the same competitions as the cheerleaders. The coach, Deanna Zebelman is also new to the gym. She has had many years of dance background and was apart of a winning dance team at Lindenwood University.

Practices recently started for the 2008-2009 season and we are so excited for the upcoming competition season. There are spots still available, so we are still welcoming cheerleaders and dancers. Over the summer the athletes will work on skills that pertain to their level and prepare for choreography. After choreography the cheerleaders and dancers will work very hard on their routines and start competitions in October.
